Widex Hearing Aids

Widex Hearing Aids

Founded in Denmark in 1956, with its products in over 100 countries worldwide, Widex is one of the leading producers of hearing aids. Formed in Denmark in 1956 by Christian Topholm and Erik Westermann, Widex is one of the few family-run hearing aid firms still owned by those who initially founded it.

The Widex sound is famous all over the hearing aid industry. Many who use Widex hearing aids remain faithful to the brand, which is a testament to their quality of hearing instruments.

Widex has also been an industry-leading force in technology innovation. The firm is known for several firsts, including the first in-the-ear hearing aid (ITE) in the world in 1985. Also, in 1995 they invented the first all-digital ITE hearing aid in the world. Since then, their drive to innovate has not slowed down, delivering the smallest RIC hearing aid ever in 2008. The business has recently made forays into the field of artificial intelligence and has launched a machine learning-powered device in the Evoke.

Widex SmartRIC

SmartRIC’s microphone covers help tone down annoying wind noise and other distractions, like when you touch your hearing aids.

It is built in a special L-shape and sits higher on your ear, helping you hear conversations even when it is noisy around you.

The hearing aid battery lasts up to 37 hours. It also comes with a portable charger with enough power for over a week of on-the-go charging.

Hearing Technology from Widex

  • Clear Sound

Widex technology picks up a wide range of tones, so you can hear gentle sounds simultaneously with the loud ones, without the deafening noises ever being too loud. Their technology is based on the concept of taking an image with a camera and using the broadest possible 'lens' to make a realistic panorama of the surrounding noise environment.

  • Machine Learning

Machine learning is a class of artificial intelligence in which algorithms learn from knowledge and experience, recognize patterns, and make better choices based on input from their previous decisions. Through the SoundSense Learn platform, Widex hearing aids can leverage machine learning to improve their devices continuously.

  • SoundSense Learn

Using SoundSense Learn technology, the latest Widex hearing aids help hearing aid users pick the best sound settings for their environment. The user selects one of two sound profiles using a dedicated app, then listens and compares the sound profiles and chooses their preferences from each. Such options are placed into the program and linked to a vast database worldwide, where the cycle continues, and new sound profiles are shown to other users. This allows Widex to enhance the millions of users' sound experience continuously.

Differences between Widex's technology levels

Most Widex products are divided into up to 4 output levels, depending on the users' needs and price points.

Level 440 is typically the highest, providing superior sound processing for those who enjoy technology in challenging environments. For those who are in more sedate settings, the 330 and 220 models are also suitable. Finally, the 110 level offers a good standard for those who are less socially involved, are mostly in sedate settings, or for one-on-one or small group consultations.
